Job Description

Industrial Construction Site Superintendent

Join a leading design-build general contractor delivering manufacturing facilities across Ohio and throughout the U.S. We’re looking for an experienced on-site leader who has served as the Prime Contractor, overseeing entire projects from mobilization through closeout. An industrial background is a strong plus, and professionals with commercial experience are encouraged to apply.

A day in the life

You own the field. From the site trailer to the final punch, you set the pace for safety, quality, schedule, and budget.

  • Mobilize the project: establish the site office trailer; post permits, labor notices, safety regulations, and EEOC material; set up sanitary stations and coolers.
  • Direct and coordinate all field activities for contractors, suppliers, and vendors to meet drawings, specifications, and workmanship standards.
  • Build and maintain the construction schedule; identify risks early and drive solutions that keep work on track.
  • Order materials, sequence work, and schedule inspections at the right milestones.
  • Champion safety: lead meetings, enforce policies, and correct hazards immediately.
  • Create comprehensive submittal logs; obtain approvals from the Architect/Engineer and communicate schedule impacts.
  • Support the Project Manager with documentation and backup for change requests.
  • Manage contractual documentation: distribute drawings, specifications, general conditions, and any accepted alternates/addenda to subcontractors.
  • Plan and run construction meetings with internal teams, subcontractors, architects, and owners; capture accurate minutes and distribute promptly.
  • Participate in Owner/Architect pre-bid, project, and closeout meetings.
  • Solicit proposals from subcontractors and suppliers prior to bid deadlines.
  • Prepare professional correspondence (e.g., schedule of values, project schedules, memos, RFIs, transmittals, submittals).
  • Submit building permit applications, track reviews, secure approvals, and process associated fees via Check Request (Urgent Pay Request) per procedure.
  • During execution, proactively steer quality, schedule, budget, and safety; use scheduling and document-control tools to track performance.
  • Document subcontractor/supplier progress and quality; notify them of plan/spec/schedule changes promptly.
  • Keep management informed on productivity, costs, quality control, documentation, and payment applications; escalate issues affecting quality, budget, progress, or safety.
  • Prepare, schedule, and oversee completion of the final punch list; maintain an orderly site and construction office.
  • Nurture strong relationships with customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and teammates.
  • Perform other related duties aligned with core responsibilities as needed.

What you bring

  • Minimum 5 years of successful general contracting experience as the Prime Contractor, including management of projects larger than 50,000 sq ft.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction practices, plans, and specifications.
  • Clear, professional communication skills (verbal and written) across internal teams, clients, and trade partners.
  • Organized, analytical, and detail-focused; able to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • High ethical standards; confident leadership with strong presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Action-oriented problem solver; comfortable traveling extensively and relocating as needed.
