Job Summary

The Senior Title Examiner is responsible for accurate examination and preparation of title commitments and title policies.

This is a hybrid position that requires mandatory on-site working 2x/week (Tuesday/Wednesday) at our Schaumburg office.

Essential duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Examines search packages.
  • Prepare title commitments and policies either using the search package or working from the examining checklist provided by the attorney-agent.
  • Direct contact with Underwriter regarding examining decisions.
  • Direct contact with attorneys regarding title examining questions.
  • Direct contact with closing officers regarding examining and survey questions.
  • Prepare invoices for each transaction.
  • Maintain accurate files.
  • Responsible for final decisions with regard to examining issues that arise prior to or at closing.
  • Responsible for final decisions with regard to what items will be insured over on final title policies.

Job Requirements:

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent mathematical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with confidential information and data.
  • Proficient knowledge of office machines (faxes, computers, printers, adding machines and telephones).

Education and/or experience:

  • 5+ years previous title examining experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or established business background.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and research problems/questions as required.
  • Paralegal certificate a plus.
