The New Mexico Adult Parole Board (APB) is a working, professional, and quasi-judicial executive agency administratively attached to the New Mexico Corrections Department (NMCD). It is charged with the responsibility of paroling individuals incarcerated or on supervised release following a state felony conviction. The Parole Board Act is the primary statutory authority for the board and is found in Sections 31-21-22 to 31-21-26, NMSA 1978. Additional authority is granted under the Probation and Parole Act in Sections 31-21-3 to 31-21-19, NMSA 1978.

This job posting will be utilized for multiple vacancies.

Why does the job exist?

This position exists to enhance operational efficiency, ensure compliance with deadlines and regulations, prevent scheduling conflicts, verify the completeness of hearing information, improve processes, and manage post-hearing documentation effectively. These responsibilities are vital for the smooth functioning of the parole board and the fair administration of justice.
How does it get done?

Duties of the position(s) include:

  • Responsible for the optimization of work flow in scheduling up to 400 Parole Board Hearings monthly,
  • Ensuring strict deadlines are met, and that there are no scheduling conflicts.
  • Verifying all information is complete to proceed with hearings and determining the best process to handle the elevated amount of hearings.
  • Documentation following the hearings is processed and disseminated within appropriate time frames.

Minimum Qualification

Associate Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Accounting and one (1) year of directly related job experience in the areas of office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, contract management, and/or in the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling three (3) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive phone and personal computer usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some travel may be required.
