Position Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery (CWR)
Location: Neptune, NJ (07754)
Job Type: Contract | Local or Travel
Shift: Day Shift, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3 x 12-hour shifts/week
Duration: 13-week assignment
Pay Rate: $60 – $65/hour
Job Summary:
The Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care to women during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. The RN monitors maternal and fetal well-being, supports vaginal and cesarean deliveries, and collaborates with the obstetric care team to ensure safe outcomes for both mother and newborn.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct nursing care to laboring, delivering, and immediate postpartum patients.
Monitor and interpret fetal heart tracings and uterine activity.
Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries.
Administer medications per protocol, including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, and epidurals.
Perform cervical exams and labor assessments within scope of practice.
Manage high-risk obstetric patients, including preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, and preterm labor.
Provide immediate newborn care and stabilization as needed.
Accurately document patient care and assessments in EMR (EPIC preferred).
Educate patients and families regarding labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesiology, pediatrics, and NICU teams.
Respond promptly to obstetric emergencies using clinical judgment.
Maintain patient safety, infection control, and hospital policy compliance.
Participate in shift handoff and ensure continuity of care.
Perform other related nursing duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required Skills & Experience:
Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery RN experience
Experience with fetal monitoring and labor management
Ability to manage high-risk obstetric patients
EMR experience (EPIC preferred)
Preferred Experience:
High-acuity or high-volume Labor & Delivery experience
Experience assisting with cesarean deliveries
Required Certifications & Licensure:
Active NJ or Compact RN License
AHA BLS
AHA ACLS
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
EFM/Fetal Monitoring certification (preferred)
