SUMMARY:

Responsible for the repair, maintenance, upkeep and replacement of the property’s cosmetic materials (interior/exterior painting, patching of woodwork and furniture refinishing), in accordance with hotel standards. Assists in other areas of Engineering as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Receive daily work assignments from Chief Engineer and review priorities and special projects.
• Organize materials, tools and equipment to perform daily assignments.
• Maintain time lines and work schedule in accordance with the preventive maintenance program.
• Check work orders for any problems. Make rounds checking these problem areas; note any touch-up needs or/and safety concerns in the hotel.
• Repair and maintain all painted surfaces and items, including preparation and installation of all types of latex, enamels, etc.
• Install and repair vinyl and wallpaper.
• Strip and refinish Guest Room furniture.
• Maintain for the proper use, cleaning, maintenance and storage of all tools and supplies.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work areas.
• Handle chemicals according to hotel requirements.
• Ensure security of any assigned keys and beeper.
• Maintain complete knowledge and comply with all hotel and departmental policies and procedures.
• Initiate cost estimates of labor and material required for specific projects.
• Complete all paperwork and closing duties before leaving and review status of assignments and any follow-up with Chief Engineer.
• Assist with any special projects assigned.
• Assist with any carpentry work required.
• Assist with rooms maintenance.
• Other duties assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and color vision. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. REQUIREMENTS: Proficiency in the following: Interior & exterior painting Sanding, stripping, and all preparation Match paints and purchase-maintain inventory Caulking / sealing / priming Drywall finishing Use spray machines
