Position Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for designing and maintaining the department's quality assurance program related to radiation safety, linear accelerator calibrations and performance, radioactive materials calibration and maintenance, three-dimensional treatment planning accuracy and performance, and monitoring the performance of peers and subordinates.
  • Responsible for the commissioning and acceptance testing of new equipment and technical procedures, participating in peer review and keeping current on current and future technological developments within the field.
  • Provide technical expertise when consulting with physicians, physicists and Dosimetrists.
  • Calibrate and maintain linear accelerators.
  • Perform various administrative functions.
  • Calibrate and maintain brachytherapy program.
  • Perform treatment planning and quality assurance on 3-dimensional computer treatment planning system.
  • Keep up-to-date in the professional literature regarding current techniques and new procedures.
  • Perform peer and subordinate review.
  • Perform and participate in research activities.


Qualifications:

  • Must be certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in Therapeutic Radiological Physics.
  • Hold a current Florida Therapeutic Radiological Physicist license from the Department of HRS, Division of Medical Quality Assurance.
  • Masters of Science degree in Medical Physics from an accredited university or college
  • Must have at least three years of clinical (LDR, HDR, Simulation, IMRT. Linear Accelerator) experience as a Therapeutic Radiological Physicist. Must possess effective communications skills, good judgment and problem solving skills.
