Job Description: Our client, a leading title company, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Title Examiner to work under the direct supervision of a Senior Examiner or Title Attorney. The ideal candidate will possess a foundational understanding of Texas property records and title procedures. This role involves learning to examine residential property titles, assisting with abstracting and curative matters, and providing support to ensure a clear and marketable title for real estate transactions. Key Responsibilities: - Assist senior examiners by searching county records and databases to assist in establishing the chain of title, primarily for residential properties.
- Learn to analyze and interpret basic legal documents such as deeds and Deeds of Trust (mortgages), identifying key information.
- Identify initial title defects and report findings to the Senior Title Examiner or Title Attorney for resolution and curative action.
- Assist in the preparation of initial draft Commitments for Title Insurance (Form T-7) under close supervision, ensuring compliance with the Texas Title Insurance Basic Manual.
- Conduct follow-up research on complex title issues as directed by senior staff.
- Collaborate closely with Escrow Officers and senior title staff to support the closing process.
Required Qualifications: - 1 to 2 years of experience in the title industry, which may include work as an Abstractor, Title Assistant, or Title Processor in Texas.
- Proven ability to conduct basic title searches and compile information from electronic and physical county records.
- Foundational knowledge of Texas property law and an understanding of how to read basic legal descriptions.
- High level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential.
- Must be proficient in standard office software and willing to quickly learn industry-specific tools.
Preferred Qualification: - Experience working with a Texas abstract plant or title search software.
- Bachelor's degree or advanced coursework in real estate, legal studies, or business.
