Position Overview:

As the Design Manager at Tufenkian Artisan Carpets, you will be a key player in our mission to create innovative and highly marketable products that align with our esteemed brand’s expectations. Your role demands a deep understanding of the high-end home furnishings marketplace, exceptional attention to detail, and a talent for organization. You will be instrumental in the entire product development process from concepts and design to market rollout, while ensuring that the Tufenkian vision is faithfully translated into every creation.

Required Experience And Skills

• Minium of 5 years’ experience in the home furnishing or fashion industry, with a proven track record of managing the entire product development process.
• Exceptional Project management and organizational skills.
• Exceptional skills in design and coloration, and interpretation of design into various constructions.
• Experience in floor coverings or textile design and rendering.
• Proficiency with color correction and retouching in Adobe Photoshop.
• Proficiency in administrative tools including Excel and Outlook.
• A portfolio showcasing your ability to create products for the high-end interiors market

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities

Detail-Oriented Product Management

• Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from inception to product rollout, ensuring meticulous attention to detail.
• Take ownership of the product development process working hand and hand with the owner of the company researching design trends, sourcing materials and tracking development projects.
• Inspecting and scrutinizing product samples upon arrival ensuring they meet Tufenkian high standards while realizing the creative nature that the handmade process brings to every rug we sell.

Design and Color Leadership

• Research and curate materials from fashion, interiors and art to guide color and design directions.
• Articulate design and color concepts that shape the design and creation process.
• Collaborate with suppliers to resolve design specification questions and challenges.
• Serve as the color expert in all production, from custom rugs to photography to digital and printed assets.

Team Management

• Lead and manage the product development process, ensuring the stake holders from the various departments throughout the company have the guidance and support to ensure a successful outcome when launching new designs from marketing, operations, sales, support and finance.
• Maintain comprehensive records of designs, color combinations, and the design process.

Quality Assurance

• Monitor the accuracy of production work from suppliers, ensuring it aligns with the development strategy.
• Ensure product photography represents production.
• Rug inspection, program and custom.

Inventory and Copyright Management

• Track inventory of product samples.
• Oversee copyright submissions for all programmed designs.

Custom Department

• Working with sales and distribution to support the custom rug and design selection process.
• Rendering work for custom with dealers and showroom.
• Working with the Operations and support team on the custom department processes.
